The Globe Theatre opened in 1997 and is one of the most unique, remarkable and breath-taking theatrical spaces in London.

It is also the only thatched-roof building in London, which is an open-air theatre with no roof over the central yard, which performances take place in all weather.

Seats are arranged in galleries all around the wide, open stage, so spectators and performers can see each other at all times. There are also a limited amount of seats in the yard available from £5.

The summer season opens on the 19 May with Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, followed by Romeo & Juliet and Twelfth Night. The Globe Touring Ensemble will perform As You Like It, The Tempest and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, including some of the ever-popular Audience Choice performances.

The Sam Wanamaker Playhouse named in honour of the Globe’s founder, opened in 2014 and is based on indoor candlelit theatres known to Shakespeare and his contemporaries.

Lit by over one hundred beeswax candles, with a spectacularly decorated ceiling. The intimate Sam Wanamaker Playhouse hosts plays, concerts, education workshops and events throughout the year. Its main theatrical season runs from late October to early April, which there are a full programme of events through the summer that include Metamorphoses, a new piece of theatre by the Globe’s writer-in-residence and inspired by Ovid’s Myths, which will open on the 30 September.
