Fashioned from Nature at the Victoria and Albert Museum

About
Explore the fascinating relationship between fashion and the natural world with Fashioned from Nature at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
With more than 300 intriguing objects from the 1600s to the present day, this major exhibition at the V&A looks at both the influence of nature on fashion and the raw materials used to make garments.
Admire the beauty of exquisite pieces next to real natural history specimens, including an 1860s muslin dress decorated with hundreds of shining jewel beetles. Plus, examine innovative materials such as Vegea’s substitute for leather made with grape waste from the wine industry.
The exhibition also invites us to consider the role contemporary designers, including Vivienne Westwood and Stella McCartney, play in highlighting the damaging impact demand for raw material has on the environment, and what can be done to ensure fashion’s green future.
