About

Watch Mark Rylance reprise his award-winning role in hard-hitting play Jerusalem at the Apollo Theatre.

What is Jerusalem about?

Jerusalem follows Johnny “Rooster” Byron – a rogue who makes a stand against the authorities – and his loyal friend Ginger, who is part of a ragtag crew. Johnny’s son wants to take him to the fair on St George’s Day but, as a wanted man, does trouble lie in store?

Jez Butterworth’s iconic play returns to the Apollo Theatre a decade after its sell-out run, which led to Mark Rylance winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor, for his portrayal of Johnny. Mackenzie Crook also returns as Ginger.

How long is Jerusalem?

Jerusalem has a running time of three hours, including two intervals.
