Islington Green
About
In 1885, social commentator Henry Vigar-Harries described Islington Green as a place "where the young love to skip in buoyant glee when the summer sun gladdens the air.”
It’s still a popular meeting spot when the sun shines today. This triangle of grass lies at the convergence of the Essex Road and Upper Street, offering a small slice of greenery in a busy spot of the city.
Trees and benches line the path running through the green, providing a shady spot to eat a bite from one of the many cafes, shops and restaurants in the area. Take a seat and people-watch locals meeting up for lunch or before they head the neighbouring independent cinema, Screen on the Green.
