The Colour House opened as a theatre in the summer of 1995. It stands in the heart of the delightful riverside setting of Merton Abbey Mills in a grade II listed property. The building has a history of over 500 years which included being used for the colouring of fabrics for the Arthur Liberty works that were here in the early 1900s.

Today the venue is open for a wonderful variety of theatre shows, events, music gigs and comedy. Since opening it's become very established for its Children's Theatre. The venue also runs a weekly Blues Club and has a monthly Chamber concert as well as touring shows, exhibitions and events.
