The Marquess Tavern
About
Housed in a beautiful building with delicious food and a good range of beers, it’s easy to see why The Marquess Tavern was once a favourite pub of the novelist George Orwell.
Things have changed somewhat over the years since the legendary writer frequented, but the place still has the feel of a traditional English pub with a few modern touches.
Feast on hearty British dishes such as beef pies, Cumberland sausages and native mussels. The pub sources ingredients locally, with meat from Godfreys butchers, fish from Essex Road fishmonger Steve Hatt, and fruit and vegetables from the New Covent Garden Market.
