Explore 500 years of musical history at the Royal College of Music Museum in South Kensington.
Discover a fascinating collection of musical instruments, paintings and objects in central London at the Royal College of Music Museum.
Highlights include the world’s earliest guitar, the earliest known stringed keyboard instrument known as the clavicytherium, and a collection of English viols. There are also more than 130 paintings on display including a series of portraits by German artist Milein Cosman and the first official portrait of singer Carlo Broschi, known on stage as Farinelli.
The museum hosts regular concerts, tours and workshops, and visitors get the chance to create their own music in the Weston Discovery Centre.
